More about me...About Hopeless in Washingtonposted on Apr 24, 2008 My family and I moved to Washington state two years ago after the job I had for ten years abruptly ended. I couldn't find work and to make a long story short we lost our home that we worked so hard for. I took a position with a company here in Washington after they offered to move us. The company offered me great pay, benefits and a promise of a long career. Once we got here we stayed in a hotel for two months while trying to find a house to rent for my wife, two boy, four cats and a boxer. We finally found the perfect place on a island overlooking the Puget Sound for $1500 a month, life was good... well for a while. The great company cut everyones pay a month after we moved into the house, the insurance that was promised was offered to me but I had to pay the whole thing and every time we submitted a claim it was turned down. Well I quit the job after a year and went to work for a company 50+ miles away in an industry I really did not want to be in but the pay was fair. Now starts the problems, again. The company is still OK but but the stress is more than anyone should have to endure and it is costing about $700 a month in gas to get there. The paydays are on the 10th and 25th of each month and the life and health insurance comes out on the 25th which make the check much smaller, no biggie, except that our rent is due on the first of the month and the landlord charges us $200 extra to pay on the 10th. The guy has raised our rent three time in the past two year and is now mad at us because we told him we did not want to extend the lease because we need to move closer to my job and because he wants to raise the rent again and wants to add more to the deposit. We asked to stay until June when our yongest son gets out of school for the year so that he would not have to miss out by moving to a new school. The landlord flew into a rage while talking to my wife and told her that if we did not have to rent in his office by the first of the month we are out of the house within three days. We cannot get a loan because of our credit, which is shot because of the loosing our house, the so called great job and the insurance not paying the bills. I'm at the end of my rope and don't know what to do anymore. Can someone give me some advise on how to get out of this mess. Thank you for listening to me rant about my screwed up life.
